Resources on Energy

The Energy Information Administration (EIA), created by Congress in 1977, is a statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy. It provides policy-independent data, forecasts, and analyses on electricity, petroleum, natural gas, coal, nuclear, and alternative and renewable fuels.

The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), part of DOE's national laboratory system, is owned and operated by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). NETL is the only U.S. national laboratory devoted to fossil energy research.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the nation's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development (R&D). Its areas of expertise include renewable electricity (solar, wind, biomass, geothermal), renewable fuels (biomass, hydrogen), and integrated energy system engineering and testing.

Steel City Biofuels (SCB) is a new project of the Pennsylvania Resources Council that is working to build awareness, policy, and infrastructure for the widespread production and use of biofuels in Southwestern Pennsylvania. It pursues this mission through education, demonstration, research, and advocacy.

Solar Power Industries provides solutions for solar power needs - from standard product lines of individual solar cells, modules, and systems--to custom designs. It is the region's largest solar industry manufacturer.

CONSOL Energy is a multi-energy producer of coal, gas and electricity. CONSOL Energy is a major fuel supplier to the electric power industry in the northeast quadrant of the United States. CONSOL also maintains the largest private research and development facilities devoted exclusively to coal and energy utilization and production.
